What is BPA?

BPA stands for Business Professionals of America. It is a student organization that promotes leadership and success in business. Business Professionals of America has a history as an association that contributes to the preparation of students for the business workforce through the advancement of leadership, professionalism, poise, dependability, patriotism, and competency in its members.  BPA allows students to explore and compete in a variety of fields including technology, administrative support, finance, management, marketing and human resources. Through co-curricular programs and services, members demonstrate and improve their business skills, network with one another and professionals across the nation, and get involved in the betterment of their community through good words and projects.  Overall, BPA is a fun environment to meet new friends and gain incredible experiences!

Basic Information

  • BPA is open to all interested students who enjoy business, finance, marketing, human resources, management, technology, public speaking or competing. 
  • The BPA season lasts all year. 
  • We meet after school in room C105 the first Thursday of every month. 
  • Check the calendar (on the left) for our calendar of events. 
  • Members are expected to attend all meetings, abide by the WPS eligibility guidelines, and work concessions for indoor sporting events.

BPA MEMBERSHIP DUES: $65.00

Includes: 

Wayzata High School Activity Fee, Local (Metro-area), State and National BPA fees, BPA Quarterly e-Magazine, BPA Pin and Card, Competitive Events Materials, Scholarships, Wayzata BPA T-Shirt
Membership must be paid for by Friday, October 28, 2011.

Conferences and Competitions

Fall Leadership University:  Oct 30-Oct 31 at the Hilton Hotel in Minneapolis. Attending the fall leadership conference will be a terrific educational opportunity to expose future leaders to leadership development and educational growth. Business professionals will lead seminars and interactive workshops dealing with communications and team building skills, competitive events and public speaking. The conference is both fun and useful in improving your business abilities. If you are interested in attending, speak with one of the advisers ASAP.

Regional Competitions:  Jan 27 at Eden Prairie High School. Region competitions are the preliminary round of competition in your specific competitive event(s).
 
State Competitions:  March 8-10 at Hyatt Regency Hotel in Minneapolis. Those who achieve top scores in regional competitions will be allowed to advance to state.
 
National Competitions:  April 25-29 in Chicago! Those who achieve top scores in state competitions will be allowed to participate in the national competition.
