This information only applies to families who currently have a 5th grade student registered to attend a Wayzata Middle School for the 2012-2013 school year.
During the last week in January, all 5th grade students should have received a packet of information about music offerings in sixth grade. Music is offered every other day, all year long. Choices include vocal music, band, or orchestra.
Band and orchestra are beginning courses; an instrument selection appointment is required to participate in beginning band or orchestra. If your child is undecided between band and orchestra, you will need to sign up for two separate selection appointments. Orchestra teachers will only hold orchestra interviews while band teachers will only hold band interviews. We highly encourage students to narrow their interest to Band or Orchestra before their instrument selection appointment.
Instrument selection times will be held during several evenings in March. Instrument selection times are important so we can assist your child in choosing the correct instrument for their individual success and to plan for middle school scheduling.
