Wayzata Public Schools hosted an Accelerated Weekend Experience (AWE) in partnership with Northwestern University's Center for Talent Development which provides challenging, hands-on, in-depth exploration for those passionate about the subjects of forensic science and science and engineering.
Fifth and sixth grade students explored forensic science. Students extracted DNA, studied fingerprints, analyzed blood spatters and discuss famous and infamous cases. Seventh and eighth grade students studied engineering for sustainability and real-world problems using human-centered and sustainable design concepts.
The two-day AWE courses were held at East Middle School March 25-26, 2017.
