The Wayzata High School Math Team is once again state tournament bound after finishing the regular season in 1st place with a cumulative score of 575, beating out their nearest competitors, Mounds View, Edina, and Eden Prairie, by 38, 42, and 64 points, respectively. The team is currently on a streak of 6 consecutive state championships (8 of the last 10) and hopes to repeat once again on March 10th at South St. Paul High School. This year's varsity tournament team is made up of seniors Apekshya Panda and William Zeng, juniors Leighton Zhao and Jenica Zhong, sophomores Se Ri Choi, Jeffrey Lee, and Daniel Qu, and freshman William Drew. The varsity team members, along with Orien Zeng (11) and David Mo (10) will all be participating in the tournament individual invitational because their scores made the top 50 in the state (out of over 3000 students). Congrats to all math team members who made the season such an enjoyable success. Good luck to all of the state tournament participants on March 10, and good luck to the rest of the team as they have a number of national and international competitions in the near future.
