Fifteen students from Wayzata High School competed in the 50th Minnesota Scholastic Chess Championship from March 28 to March 29 and Wayzata High School is the state K-12 team champion! After seven rounds of intensive competition in two days our players edged out the top seed Blake School by half of a point in a dramatic finish in the last round overcoming a half point deficit from the top two schools. This is the first time that Wayzata High School won the team championship in the state tournament's fifty years history!
Individually, freshman Andrew Tang won 1st place and sophomore Jacob Ritter won 12th place.
