Wayzata DECA members had another successful year at the International Career Development Conference. This years competition was held at the Orlando Convention Center in Orlando Florida and included DECA members from all around the world (Spain, Mexico, Canada, South Korea, Guam, Dominican Republic and the United States). A record number of Wayzata students, 24, qualified for the conference this year. Our Wayzata DECA chapter had 10 individuals/groups competing in various events. Of the 10 team, 5 made it to finals. Here were the results:
1) Emily Sherman - Top 10 (Fashion Merchandising Plan) 2) Kara Kohns, Aryik Bhattacharya, Tahir Adatia - Top 10 (School Based Enterprise) 3) Joey Kaufman - Top 10 (Professional Selling Event) 4) Abby Jacobson, Rachel Greenberg - Top 10 (Finance Operations Research Event) 5) Emily Paulson - Top 20 (Hospitality & Tourism Professional Selling Event)
Each one of these events had between 140 - 220 teams competing in them down in Orlando. To get to this point, these students had to qualify at a district and state conference prior to ICDC. The students had lots of opportunity to network with students from all around the world and were excellent competitors. Our chapter is very proud of their hard work and results.
