Ashmita Sarma and Mariel Naylor were both honored by the National Center for Women and Information Technology with the Aspirations in Computing Award. This award honors young women for their interest and their accomplishments in computers and technology. Ashmita is a state winner, and Mariel is a state runner up. The girls are selected from multiple applicants all over the state and will be honored at an awards ceremony in April. They will also be eligible for scholarships, job shadows and internships as a result of the award. Wayzata has had a student honored with this award every year since its inception which says a lot about both our students and our school. It's great to see Ashmita and Mariel carry on that tradition.
