Implementing Our Vision - Transforming our Future Together
The process of developing a new technology plan for Wayzata Public Schools is nearing an end with plans to submit the new plan to the Minnesota Department of Education by mid-April. The new plan will replace the technology plan that was implemented beginning in the 2006-2007 school year and will expire at the end of the 2009-2010 school year. The new plan will provide a technology vision for the district from the 2010-2011 school year through the 2014-2015 school year.

The process to develop the new plan included a great deal of parent and staff involvement. About 25 district staff members and parents served on the "design team," which was responsible for creating draft plan components. The design team met six times between December 2009 and February 2010 to complete its work.

About 60 parents and staff members also served on the "input team." The role of the input team was to provide feedback and ideas on the draft materials developed by the design team. The design team used the comments from the input team to revise the plan components. Parents and staff members not on these teams also had the opportunity to start their input using the technology department's webpage.

The planning process included 10, three-hour meetings, hundreds of pages of documents that were reviewed and numerous hours of discussions. The process generated a one-page vision document that will outline the district's technology direction for the next five years.
