Superintendent Overview

  • The superintendent is the chief executive officer of the district and is responsible for the management of the schools, the administration of all board approved policies and the conduct and quality of the district’s educational programs and support systems.
    It is the superintendent’s responsibility to recommend policies to the board and when adopted by the board, implement, interpret and execute them. The position provides leadership and counsel to the school board in the development of the district’s mission and goals, provides professional support and advice to the school board on all matters considered by the board.
    The superintendent also has direct supervisory responsibilities for the following personnel: executive director of teaching and learning: executive director of finance and business services; executive director of human resource services; director of communication; director of community education; director of special services; director of technology; and executive assistant to the superintendent.

Superintendent Chace B. Anderson, Ph.D.

  • Dr. Chace B. Anderson began serving as superintendent of Wayzata Public Schools in July 2008. Prior to assuming the position in Wayzata, he served as the assistant superintendent for Edina Public Schools.
    He had held the following other positions in Minnesota: principal, Edina High School; principal, Valley View Middle School, Edina; middle school assistant principal, Burnsville-Eagan-Savage School District; and administrator, Rochester Montessori School. Before moving to Minnesota in 1988, Anderson worked for the Bellevue (Nebraska) Public Schools as a junior high school dean of students and athletics director, middle school and high school science teacher and an assistant varsity football and track coach.
    Anderson holds a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Minnesota (Minneapolis); an M.S. degree in Secondary School Administration from the University of Nebraska (Omaha); and a B.A. degree from the University of Northern Iowa (Cedar Falls). Anderson resides in Maple Grove, Minnesota with his wife and two children.
